Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with EPIC experience and the ability to provide care to stable trauma and surgical patients.

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient populations include stable trauma, pre-op, post-op surgical, palliative care, observation, and medical overflow patients
• Treats patients who have had exploratory laparotomies, colectomies, mastectomies, lap cholecystectomies, eye, trauma, and plastic surgeries, and lower volume GYN procedures
• Day shift schedule: three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00am to 7:30pm
• Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• No on-call required
• Floating required to multiple campuses within the health system as needed
• Uses EPIC EMR system; EPIC experience required
• Provide direct nursing care for medical, surgical, and telemetry patients, including stable trauma and post-surgical cases
• Expected to perform blood product administration, peripheral line care, and participate in rapid response teams
• Modules required during orientation; duration varies by unit and ranges from 2 to 4 hours
• Strict attendance policy with zero tolerance for tardiness or unexcused absences
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Time off requests must be submitted at the time of application; no requests accepted after submission
• All RNs must be prepared for and pass the EKG exam; no study materials provided

• Active NC or compact RN license in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience in surgery or trauma preferred, especially for first-time travelers
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must pass an EKG (electrocardiogram) exam with up to two attempts during compliance
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
• Education from accredited institutions only; diploma audit restrictions apply
