- Delivery of patient care
- Personal care (ADL) including bathing (assist, bed bath, tub bath, shower, sitz), body mechanics (turning, positioning, transfer, lifts), nutrition (meal prep, feeding, intake/output tracking), elimination care (bedpan/urinal, catheter care, specimen collection), safety procedures (call rails, restraints, CPR, infection control), special procedures (vital signs, wound care, post-mortem care, breathing exercises).
- Housekeeping services necessary for patient/family/caregiver health and safety.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences.
- If functioning as a NA I+4, in addition to the above tasks, provides:
- Sterile dressing for wounds >48 hr old; wound irrigation
- Ostomy care or ostomy irrigation
- Limited insertion of urinary catheter (only replacement after nursing assessment)
- Oxygen therapy (room set-up and flow-rate monitoring)
- If functioning as a NAII, in addition to the above tasks, provides:
- Breaking-up and removal of fecal impaction
- IV fluid‑assisted activities (assembly, flushing, monitoring, dressing change, discontinuation)
- Nutritional activities (OG feeding, gastrostomy feedings, tube clamping and removal)
- Suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal)
- Tracheostomy care
- Ostomy care or irrigation
- Sterile dressing for wounds >48 hr old; wound irrigation
- Oxygen therapy (room set-up and flow-rate monitoring)
- Interdisciplinary teamwork, documentation, professional accountability, and ongoing professional development
- High school diploma preferred; +training/certification in related field required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant; maintain current listing status required.
- NA – must be in good standing with NC Department of Health and Human Services.
- Minimum 1 year experience required. Experience in home care, working with terminally ill and/or geriatrics preferred.
