Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a NC or compact RN license and proficiency with Epic EMR.
Responsibilities- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes medical and surgical cardiac ICU cases such as MI, CHF, cardiac surgeries, post-cardiac cath, LVAD, Impella, IABP, open heart surgical patients, ECMO, and patients with multi-system organ failure
- Specialized procedures include post-cardiac surgery care, sheath removal, TAVR, ECMO, intra-aortic balloon pump, CVVHA/CRRT, arterial line and central line management, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Night shift position with three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-07:30)
- Weekend requirements include working 6 full weekends (Saturday and Sunday) during the 13-week contract
- Holiday shift coverage as needed
- Floating required to all campuses as needed
- Epic EMR experience is mandatory
- Provide advanced nursing care for critically ill cardiac surgery, cardiac medical, and multi-organ failure patients
- Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and management of ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
- Interpret ABGs and manage blood product administration
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced ICU environment
- All travelers are expected to float to any affiliated campuses as needed
- Modules must be completed during orientation and vary by unit
- Two professional supervisor references from the past two years required

- Active NC or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CVVHA/CRRT experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Experience with post-cardiac surgery care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, and management of ventilated patients
- Experience with specialized cardiac equipment and interventions is preferred (e.g., ECMO, IABP, TAVR, sheath removal)
- Must successfully pass a pass/fail EKG exam during compliance; two attempts allowed
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no locals accepted)
- SICU experience preferred
