Lead Nurse - 2nd Shift
Friends Homes, Inc. is hiring a Lead Nurse for the 2nd shift. This is a full‑time position available for various shifts, including alternate weekends.

Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the North Carolina Board of Nursing

- Direct Care & Clinical Oversight: Administer and record care for residents, monitor health status, communicate with physicians and families, draw blood, obtain lab specimens, assist with treatments, and participate in on‑call rotation.
- Team Leadership & Support: Supervise and mentor nursing staff and assistants, provide training and reinforcement, participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions, coordinate with other departments to ensure holistic care.
- Ensure compliance with OBRA, OSHA, state, and federal regulations; monitor accuracy of doctor’s orders, MARs, and resident charts; maintain resident rights and promote a safe, clean environment.
- Support a homelike atmosphere with pets, plants, and children; participate in interdisciplinary meetings, care planning, and safety drills; educate residents and families on care plans and transitions.
- Current RN or LPN license issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Current CPR certification (One‑Man Adult CPR per American Heart Association)
- Experience working with geriatric residents
- Ability to supervise and lead nursing staff
- Ability to lift and assist residents as required
- Physical requirements:
ability to lift 10–50 lbs frequently; maintain regular standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling of wheelchairs, prolonged sitting for documentation. - Ability to detect changes in resident health through observation, touch, smell, and communication.
- Supervisory experience in a skilled nursing or long‑term care setting
- Participation in QAPI, safety committees, or other interdisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of physical and sensory requirements for nursing staff
This position may involve exposure to blood borne pathogens (CDC Category I and II). Universal precautions must be followed.
