Our clinicians play a vital role in the recovery process for chronic, critically ill and medically complex patients.
Provides quality patient care to critically ill patients through the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. Serves as a patient advocate at all times. Supervises the nursing care provided to each patient by other caregivers. Develops the plan for nursing care as a result of coordination with the patient, family and staff of other disciplines as necessary. Applies critical thinking in order to promote positive clinical outcomes.
Ensures patient education. Participates in discharge planning.
- Maintains the standard of nursing care and implements policies and procedures.
- Assesses the patient on admission within the required time frame and makes referrals to other disciplines.
- Develops and updates nursing care plans for assigned patients.
- Handles restraints and ensures patient positioning.
- Documents patient assessments, care plans, and pertinent information in the electronic medical record.
- Uses biomedical equipment correctly (defibrillator, suction machine, IV pumps, etc.).
- Delivers patient care on time, demonstrates initiative and teamwork.
- Obtains consents for procedures and blood transfusions.
- Receives physician’s orders, ensures accurate transcription and entry.
- Responds to changes in patient condition (cardiac rhythm, respiratory distress, etc.) and initiates emergency action.
- Reports observations accurately to physicians, supervisors, or charge nurses.
- Administers medications with knowledge of action, side effects, dosage, and route.
- Recognizes and implements arrhythmia protocols for specified cardiac rhythms.
- Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to patients.
- Administers medications following the seven rights of medication administration.
- Assists physicians with special tests and procedures.
- Participates in economical utilization of supplies and equipment maintenance.
- Participates in orientation of new personnel and performance evaluations of nursing staff.
- Assists team members or provides direct care when needed.
- Coordinates nursing care for therapy or procedures scheduled by other departments.
- Initiates emergency measures for sudden adverse developments.
- Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
- BCLS certification and ACLS required.
- Minimum one year training and experience in Critical Care.
