Job Summary:
The Formation Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring battery formation equipment to ensure optimal charging and conditioning of cells according to production specifications. This role involves setting up formation racks, managing charge/discharge cycles, monitoring data, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards in a high-volume battery manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate and monitor battery formation equipment, including charge/discharge systems and cooling units.
* Set up formation racks and connect cells according to work instructions and safety protocols.
* Monitor voltage, current, temperature, and other parameters during formation cycles to ensure product quality.
* Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on formation equipment.
* Record operational data in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and maintain accurate logs for traceability.
* Identify and troubleshoot equipment or process issues, escalating to maintenance or engineering when necessary.
* Ensure compliance with safety standards, including handling of electrolyte and hazardous materials.
* Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve non-conformances and improve processes.
Skills:
* Understanding of electrical principles and battery chemistry basics.
* Ability to read and interpret technical documents and safety guidelines.
* Basic computer skills for data entry and MES operation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in an environment with various temperatures.

Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electrical or mechanical fields preferred; ability to communicate effectively in English required
Experience:
1–3 years in battery manufacturing or related industrial environment; experience with formation or electrochemical processes is a plus.
