Overview
Job Title: Paralegal – Intellectual Property (Patent Prosecution)
Location: Greensboro, NC
Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 / Year (Direct Hire)
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits starting on the first day of employment; a 401(k) plan with profit-sharing match (8.5% after one year); 15 days of PTO (flexible based on experience); and family-building benefits including fertility and adoption services.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Five or more years of related experience and/or training in a law firm with patent docketing and/or prosecution administration
- Equivalent combination of education and experience with Intellectual Property filing and prosecution rules accepted
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent client service skills
- Punctuality and reliable attendance required
- Knowledge of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution procedures and regulations
Seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Paralegal to support patent prosecution matters. This role involves researching law, investigating facts, preparing and filing patent-related documents, managing deadlines, and supporting attorneys with domestic and international patent filings.
About Our ClientA well-established law firm with a collaborative office environment and a growing Intellectual Property practice. This is a newly created headcount within the office.
Key Responsibilities- Execute U.S. patent filings via EFS
- Manage foreign patent prosecution and coordinate with foreign agents
- Review office actions and patent office communications and report to clients
- Prepare office action response shells for attorneys
- Prepare formal documents, send to clients for signature, and file with patent offices
- Monitor daily docket and ensure deadlines are met
- Collaborate with docketing staff to ensure accurate date tracking
- Communicate with USPTO personnel as needed
- Process foreign associate invoices
- Utilize document management and docketing systems (e.g., Net Docs, CPi, Foundation IP)
- Develop and document processes and procedures
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
