Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 8:00am - 5:00pm

Working as Full-time IT Security Engineer, you will be responsible for testing, designing and implementing security controls and solutions driven by policies and standards to reduce the risk to Fastenal and its customers. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Engineering, implementing and monitoring security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information
• Engineering, implementing, and monitoring long-term retention of security relevant data collection and storage
• Monitoring security analytics and investigating anomalies
• Configuring and troubleshooting security infrastructure software and devices
• Designing, implementing and maintaining controls around sensitive data (PCI, SOX, HIPAA, etc)
• Providing 24x7 support on critical systems in an on-call rotation

• Possess or working towards a degree in Information Technology, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Actuarial Science OR have at least 3 years of IT Security related work experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
• Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
• Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills
• Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency
• Work independently as well as in a team environment

• Pass the required drug screen and background check (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)

• Possess professional IT Security Certification (CISM, CCNA Security, CISSP, OSCP)
• Demonstrate knowledge of computer operating systems (Red Hat Linux, Microsoft Windows) and, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V)
• Working knowledge of a broad range of security technologies, including Next Gen Firewalls, DLP, NAC, IDS/IPS, IdAM, Certificate Management, SIEM, Endpoint Protection, Anti‑malware, vulnerability management
• Prior work experience implementing security standards and procedures
• Demonstrate knowledge of networking topology concepts
• Previous scripting experience (Bash, Power Shell, Python, or others)
