Overview
Sedgefield Country Club is seeking a Banquet Captain to join our team. This position is responsible for supervising and executing banquet and catering events with professionalism, hospitality, and meticulous attention to detail. This role leads banquet service staff, coordinates event operations, and ensures every member or guest interaction reflects the highest standard of service consistent with Sedgefield Country Club and McConnell Golf values.
This is a full-time position and offers benefits, including medical, life, and dental insurance, paid time off (PTO), 401(k), and a complimentary staff meal each day worked.
Responsibilities- Event Coordination & Execution
- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event details to confirm guest counts, room setups, timing, and special requirements.
- Work closely with Food & Beverage management and Operations Team, Culinary team, and Catering Director to plan and deliver seamless banquet functions.
- Lead pre-shift briefings; assign service stations and timelines to banquet service staff.
- Staff Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, coach, and mentor banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff throughout events; ensure proper uniform, grooming, and service etiquette.
- Train team members on service standards, safety, and workflow practices.
- Service Excellence & Guest Relations
- Act as a visible, approachable leader during events to anticipate and meet members' and guests' needs.
- Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and resolve issues with professionalism and poise.
- Operational Oversight
- Ensure banquet areas are properly set up, clean, and stocked with necessary service items.
- Monitor inventory of banquet supplies, equipment, and linens; communicate restocking needs.
- Assist with post-event breakdown and room reset.
- Compliance & Standards
Uphold health, safety, and alcohol service policies in accordance with club and state regulations.
Qualifications- Previous banquet, catering, or hospitality experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with an emphasis on communication, organization, and teamwork.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic, member-driven environment.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of and compliance with North Carolina liquor laws and proper food safety (Serv Safe Certified) preferred.
Salary Range: USD $18.00 - $20.00 /Hr.
