Patient Access Advocate II

Salary: $39,000 – $40,950 annually

Job Overview

The Patient Access Advocate II plays a vital role in our front office operations, serving as the expert liaison between patients, clinics, and the organization. This position expands on proven customer service and medical technology skills, providing exceptional service, insurance verification, referral management, and onboarding of new Patient Access Advocates as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Assist patients through the registration process, verifying demographics and insurance for accurate billing.
  • Verify patient insurance information and facilitate insurance billing.
  • Follow established protocols for collecting and posting co‑pays, ensuring proper payment processing.
  • Maintain accurate cash drawer, prepare daily deposits, and follow practice close processes.
  • Coordinate referrals, obtain pre‑certification, and manage pre‑certification follow‑up.
  • Adhere to No‑Surprise Act and no‑show policy, documenting patient no‑shows.
  • Schedule appointments, manage inbound calls, messages, voicemail, and email, and coordinate follow‑up when needed.
  • Train new staff on clerical support tasks (paperwork, medical records, faxing, scanning, filing, typing).
  • Create a positive guest experience following Steps of Service protocols and deescalate situations when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably required or assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Graduate of a certified medical office training course (preferred).
  • At least 1 year of clerical experience in a medical setting.
  • Proficiency in EPIC Cadence/Prelude.
  • Experience in customer service within a healthcare setting.
