Medical Assistant - Full Time
American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S., providing services seven days a week on a walk‑in basis. Our state‑of‑the‑art centers focus on the episodic treatment of acute illnesses, injuries, workers’ compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location has an onsite lab and in‑house X-ray capability. This position works directly with a franchised business location;
duties and benefits may vary between franchises.
Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
Responsibilities- Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
- Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
- Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
- Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab or in‑house processing
- Perform laboratory tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance per written instructions
- Respond to all lab messages and call‑back requests
- Perform all drug screening procedures per established rules and regulations
- Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered per policy
- Conduct physician referrals and service pre‑certifications as needed
- Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one‑year related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Medical Assistant Certificate required.
- Availability weekdays as well as weekends.
$18.00 – $24.00 per hour.
