Position Overview
We’re looking for a skilled Estimator with experience in reviewing construction drawings and performing material takeoffs to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong attention to detail, an ability to interpret technical drawings, and a background in construction or manufacturing estimating.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy of bids, cost projections, and proposals for our expanding line of perimeter security systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, civil, and structural drawings to determine project scope and barrier placement requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for steel, hardware, hydraulics, and electrical components.
- Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates and bid proposals for barrier systems and installation packages.
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, and production teams to validate feasibility and costing assumptions.
- Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain and evaluate material and labor pricing.
- Maintain organized estimate records, pricing databases, and job cost templates.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, RFQ reviews, and project handoff discussions.
- Identify value-engineering opportunities to improve cost efficiency and competitiveness.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating or takeoffs for construction, fabrication, or metal manufacturing.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting construction and engineering drawings
. - Experience using takeoff or estimating software such as Bluebeam, Plan Swift, or similar tools
. - Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple bids and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with crash-rated or security barrier products is a plus.
- Experience estimating mechanical and electrical components a plus.
