Role description

Arcadis is searching for a Regional Water/Wastewater Design Leader to join our Resilience‑Water Business Area and lead the development of water and wastewater treatment projects across our Southeast region.

Role accountabilities
  • Direct and oversee quality assurance and control of water/wastewater treatment projects; provide technical expertise as a QA/QC reviewer or advisor to ensure compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications, codes, statutes, rules, regulations, and Arcadis’ quality and safety practices.
  • Lead knowledge transfer and development of staff within the area of expertise.
  • Supervise and support the work of others while mentoring junior and mid‑level engineers and technical staff, ensuring the development of Arcadis’ capability in the discipline(s).
  • Manage technical coordination and leadership on larger or complex projects, or projects with higher associated risk.
  • Working closely with a certified Project Manager, oversee and/or lead the technical delivery of very large, complex, or specialized projects, ensuring client satisfaction and effective communication among Arcadis colleagues.
  • Support marketing and proposal phases of projects, including preparation of and participation in winning proposals and interviews, as well as developing scopes of work and budgets.
  • Build and maintain a strong professional reputation for yourself and Arcadis; keep up to date with industry, technical, and legislative developments and seek opportunities to develop a regional professional profile (e.g., conference presentations, publications, committee participation).
  • Actively engage with Southeast client account teams, supporting the expansion of business‑development opportunities and client relationships to strategically grow Arcadis’ Southeast portfolio. Some travel will be required.
Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 20 years of water/wastewater treatment experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to obtain a license by reciprocity in other states as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Over 25 years of experience in water, wastewater, and stormwater projects at a comparable engineering firm.
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with local clients in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and/or Alabama.
  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations.
  • Experience in a regional role with a proven ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Experience in progressive design‑build delivery and DBIA certification (desirable).
Key Attributes

The ideal candidate will have team leadership experience, including managing overall project delivery expectations, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring team members. They should possess technical expertise and experience with water and wastewater treatment projects. Strong client management, proposal development, and relationship‑management skills are essential, as is excellent verbal and written communication.

Benefits

Arcadis offers benefits for full‑time and part‑time positions, including medical, dental, vision, EAP, 401(k), STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition programs, and optional wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance, and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $150,000 – $200,000 per year, varying by experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location (High Point, NC).
