Assistant​/Associate Professor Nursing- PMHNP

Overview

The School of Nursing within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University is seeking an assistant/associate professor focused on Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. The primary purpose is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction for undergraduate and graduate courses, student advising and mentoring, recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment and accreditation procedures.

The ideal candidate will establish and sustain a strong externally funded research program, produce an excellent record of scholarly publications, incorporate modern pedagogical skills in nursing education, supervise and support DNP student projects, and provide service to the School of Nursing, college, university, and relevant community/professional organizations. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position.

North Carolina A&T State University is a public land‑grant research institution, the largest HBCU in the nation, with a broad program mix across eight colleges and multiple degree levels. The School of Nursing offers tracks including traditional BSN, Accelerated BSN, and RN-to-BSN pathways, and is expanding with a Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

• A Ph.D. in nursing or DNP with a significant research track record.
• Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise and pedagogical skills to teach in nursing leadership areas.

• Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs or credentials meeting North Carolina Board of Nursing educational requirements.
• Three years of clinical experience related to mental health nursing concepts.
• Experience teaching advanced pathophysiology.
• Nurse Educator Certification.
• Skills with Blackboard LMS, Banner INB, and Microsoft Office.

Current unrestricted RN license in North Carolina or eligibility to obtain NC RN License; national certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.

This position is on-site, with remote or hybrid arrangements available consistent with university and state policies.
