Assistant/Associate Professor – Nursing

Primary Purpose of Position:
The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on Nursing Leadership. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment and accreditation-related procedures.

• Provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
• Advise and mentor students, recruit students, provide curriculum development.
• Engage in program assessment and accreditation procedures.
• Establish and sustain an externally funded research program in their field of expertise.
• Produce an excellent record of scholarly publications and secure research funding.
• Incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Teach courses in community health and other non‑clinical courses in nursing.
• Provide service to the School of Nursing, the college, the university, and appropriate community and professional organizations.

• A doctoral degree is required. If the doctoral degree is in a field related to but other than nursing, the applicant must have a graduate degree in nursing.
• Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs or credentials to meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing educational requirement.
• Record of funded research and publications appropriate for rank as an Assistant Professor.
• Unrestricted license to practice in North Carolina at the time of appointment.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
• Meet the requirements for teaching at the baccalaureate level as prescribed by the governing body.

Ph.D. in nursing is preferred.
