Assistant/Associate Professor – Nursing
Primary Purpose of Position:
The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on Nursing Leadership. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment and accreditation-related procedures.
- Provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
- Advise and mentor students, recruit students, provide curriculum development.
- Engage in program assessment and accreditation procedures.
- Establish and sustain an externally funded research program in their field of expertise.
- Produce an excellent record of scholarly publications and secure research funding.
- Incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Teach courses in community health and other non‑clinical courses in nursing.
- Provide service to the School of Nursing, the college, the university, and appropriate community and professional organizations.
- A doctoral degree is required. If the doctoral degree is in a field related to but other than nursing, the applicant must have a graduate degree in nursing.
- Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs or credentials to meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing educational requirement.
- Record of funded research and publications appropriate for rank as an Assistant Professor.
- Unrestricted license to practice in North Carolina at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Meet the requirements for teaching at the baccalaureate level as prescribed by the governing body.
Ph.D. in nursing is preferred.
