Early Childhood Teacher
Location: UNC Greensboro, North Carolina
Position SummaryEarly Childhood Education Teachers in the Child Care Education Program are responsible for curriculum planning in classrooms for young children, maintaining licensing and accreditation standards, and creating a respectful high‑quality classroom environment. They also provide appropriate guidance for university students working in their classrooms.
Key Responsibilities- Meet or exceed licensing and accreditation standards while providing a high‑quality classroom environment for young children.
- Follow guidelines and requirements provided by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education and the NAEYC Academy for Early Education.
- Provide individualized mentoring and positive guidance for university student teachers; model appropriate teaching strategies for all university students and meet with them at least weekly.
- Maintain up‑to‑date documentation on individual child assessment of growth and development, including completing developmental screenings with families and collecting anecdotal notes of each child’s progress.
- Provide daily curriculum plans using observations of children’s development and interests; plan curriculum activities based on observations and aligned with early learning standards; connect child assessment information to curriculum activities.
- B.S. in Human Development/Early Childhood or a related field and experience working with young children.
- Birth‑Kindergarten licensure and early childhood classroom teaching experience.
