Associate Professor/Professor and Department Chair, Communication Sciences and Disorders

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, seeks a Chair for its 12‑month position, reporting to the Dean. The Chair will serve as the chief administrative and academic leader, providing visionary leadership with a strong educator‑researcher emphasis. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budget development and management, recruitment and retention of faculty and students, student and faculty development, curriculum improvement, faculty performance evaluation, program assessment and accreditation, fundraising, and collaboration with other departments and university leaders.

The Chair must implement strategies to increase recruitment, retention, and graduation rates in all degree programs and work with faculty to develop research infrastructure.

• A PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech and Language Pathology, Health Communication, or a closely related field with a significant research track record at the associate or full professor rank.
• Prior teaching experience at the baccalaureate and/or graduate level.
• Three years of teaching and research experience at a comparable institution.
• Three years’ experience in academic administration.
• Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise and to teach in areas such as healthcare economics, healthcare finance, data analytics, health information management, healthcare quality and patient safety, and related subjects.
