Overview
The Honors College at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure-track Teaching Assistant or Associate Professor position. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for an appointment at the Teaching Professor level. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, student engagement, and interdisciplinary learning.
ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Associate Dean of Academics, the successful candidate will design and deliver high-impact learning experiences that foster intellectual curiosity, leadership, and global awareness among Honors students.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach undergraduate courses and facilitate tutoring and supplemental instruction
- Advise honors students
- Develop innovative interdisciplinary courses that integrate diverse fields of study
- Explore and apply emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and digital learning tools, to enhance student engagement and academic success
- Support broader academic initiatives within the Honors College and the University, including undergraduate research, service-learning, and professional development
- Collaborate with Honors leadership, faculty across disciplines, and university partners to promote a dynamic academic environment
- Contribute to recruitment, retention, and student engagement efforts
- Help expand research opportunities in partnership with the Center of Undergraduate Research, other academic units, Career Services, and the University Student Success Office
- Doctorate in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution
- At least three years of experience in teaching, academic advising, student mentoring, or curriculum development in a higher education setting
- Experience designing and implementing interdisciplinary or honors-level courses
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, undergraduate research, leadership development, or high-impact learning practices
- Doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field
- Experience working with high-achieving, first-generation, or diverse student populations in Honors or specialized academic programs
- Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and engage in curriculum innovation and program development
- Remote or hybrid work arrangement eligibility, consistent with university and state policies
- On-site requirement (Employees are typically expected to be on campus for designated duties)
