Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The Department of Social Work and Gerontology ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) has 18 full‑time faculty. The department is one of ten departments or programs in the School of Health and Human Sciences () ial Work faculty have a history of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service. The department offers BSW and MSW programs. The school offers support for both research () and instructional technology ().

Position Summary:

We are seeking an Academic Professional Track Assistant Professor to teach social work courses across the BSW and JMSW Programs. This is a 9‑month appointment. The Academic Professional Track offers non‑tenured rankings of Assistant Professor through Professor, with an emphasis on teaching and other professional and service responsibilities. Appointments are renewable on a yearly basis.

Typical duties include:

  • Teach social work courses in the undergraduate and graduate social work curriculum via in‑person and online delivery.
  • Create or co‑create course content materials in the areas of expertise.
  • Create a student‑centered learning environment, responsive to student needs.
  • Provide timely, substantive feedback and maintain regular communication with students.
  • Assess student learning through varied and appropriate evaluation strategies.
  • Advise and mentor social work students, including support in academic and professional development.
  • Supporting program accreditation efforts (CSWE).
  • Maintain compliance with CSWE accreditation standards and contribute to accreditation‑related curriculum, assessment, and ongoing reaffirmation.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support continuous program improvement.
  • Engagement in departmental, university, and community service is required.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, attention to detail, and commitment to meeting academic deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • The candidate must hold a Master of Social Work Degree from a CSWE‑accredited program.
  • LCSW with two years of post‑MSW professional clinical social work practice experience.
  • Higher education teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Social Work or related field, or a DSW.
  • Proficiency with Canvas LMS and online course development.
  • Familiarity with CSWE accreditation and EPAS standards.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving diverse student populations, including adult learners.
