As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Instructor, you will provide high‑quality instruction to North Carolina Nurse Aide I students in accordance with NC DHSR Nurse Aide I Training Program standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Instruction & Skills Training
- Deliver classroom instruction aligned with the North Carolina Nurse Aide I (NA I) approved curriculum
- Teach and demonstrate required skills in a structured skills lab using DHSR‑approved methods and equipment
- Supervise students in approved clinical training sites, ensuring adherence to state guidelines
- Evaluate student performance through tests, return demonstrations, and clinical assessments
- Program Compliance & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate DHSR‑required documentation, including attendance, hours, skill checklists, and evaluations
- Ensure students meet required minimum 75 hours (or program‑specific requirement) across classroom, lab, and clinical segments
- Participate in DHSR audits, compliance reviews, and quality‑assurance processes
- Student Support & Communication
- Provide feedback, remediation, coaching, and guidance to support student success
- Communicate effectively with clinical site staff and program leadership
- Maintain professionalism, empathy, and a strong commitment to person‑centered care
- Stay current with NC Nurse Aide I regulations, DHSR curriculum updates, and best practices in adult education
- Contribute to continuous improvement of instructional methods and program quality
Required:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of direct patient care in a long‑term care facility (per NC DHSR requirements)
- Completion of the NC Nurse Aide I Instructor Training (Adult Education/Train‑the‑Trainer) OR qualifying documentation accepted by NC DHSR
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to demonstrate, teach, supervise, and evaluate NA I skills in classroom, lab, and clinical settings
- Ability to lift, assist students, and demonstrate physical tasks
- Experience teaching or mentoring adult learners
- Prior teaching experience in an NA I program or LPN/RN educational setting
- Experience with curriculum development or training coordination
- Familiarity with NC‑approved testing provider processes (Credentia/Prometric)
- Combination of classroom, skills lab, and clinical environments (long‑term care or other DHSR‑approved sites)
- Requires physical movement, hands‑on demonstrations, and direct supervision of students during resident care
