Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Studies (two positions) Position Summary
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies invites applications for two 9‑month tenure‑track appointments at the Assistant Professor level, starting August 2026. We seek dynamic and collegial scholars with demonstrated potential for research productivity, high‑quality teaching, and intentional service. We encourage applications from candidates specializing in any area of Developmental or Family Science who will complement and expand our current departmental strengths.
ResponsibilityProfile
- Maintain an active and productive research program.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Advising undergraduate and graduate students.
- Seek external research funding.
- Provide professional and institutional service.
- Doctoral degree in Human Development and Family Studies or a closely related field (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Education, Biobehavioral Health, or Public Health).
- Evidence of competence in college instruction.
- Record of scholarly publication and competence in related research methodology.
- Strong potential to obtain external funding for research.
- Record of scholarly publication representing a clear research portfolio.
- Evidence of success in applying for or securing research funding.
- Strong methodological expertise.
- Demonstrated skills in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
- Evidence of mentoring in support of student success, including students of diverse backgrounds.
- Potential to collaborate with colleagues around departmental teaching, mentoring, and research activities.
