The Department of Biology at North Carolina A&T State University, College of Science and Technology, invites applications for a non‑tenure‑track faculty teaching assistant or teaching associate position starting in August 2026. This is a nine (9) month, full‑time, non‑tenure‑track teaching assistant professor position. A higher rank might be considered for qualified candidates. The initial appointment is two years and is eligible for renewal.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, providing tutoring and supplemental instruction, and advising students. The position also entails active engagement in recruitment, curriculum development, and scholarly activities.

Additional duties include service to the department, College, and University, such as serving on committees, participating in program assessment, and supporting departmental initiatives. Administrative responsibilities may involve collaborating with faculty to enhance existing programs and develop new academic and extracurricular opportunities, such as internships, coordinating multi‑section courses, chairing committees, assisting with recruitment activities, and advising student organizations. Mentoring undergraduate students is also an important component of this role.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Biological Sciences or Biology Education, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Biology. The candidate must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching diverse populations and have two or more years of college/university‑level teaching experience.

The successful applicant will demonstrate ability to adopt and practice student‑centered, active learning strategies and pedagogy, as well as have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to general education biology instruction, high‑quality customer services, and student success initiatives. Preference will be given to applicants with an interest/ability to promote undergraduate research in the classroom.
