Position Title
Associate Professor (Chair) – Psychology
Primary PurposeThe Department Chair is responsible for leading the Department of Psychology, serving as the chief administrative and academic leader, and reporting to the Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Responsibilities- Provide visionary leadership for innovative programs with a strong educator‑researcher emphasis.
- Oversee strategic planning, budget development, management, and allocation.
- Recruit, retain, and develop faculty and students.
- Improve curricula; evaluate faculty performance.
- Conduct program assessments and reviews, and maintain accreditation.
- Develop external partnerships and represent department goals to university leadership.
- Implement strategies to develop research infrastructure.
- Oversee course schedules, faculty evaluations, and departmental staff supervision.
- Conduct research in area of expertise, publish in refereed journals and/or conference proceedings.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (reduced load).
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- Doctoral degree in Psychology.
- Experience enabling appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
- Minimum of three years in an administrative or management position in a comparable academic institution.
- Minimum of three years teaching at the collegiate level at a teaching‑focused institution.
- Strong record of extramural funding.
- Ability to work collaboratively, inclusively, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Outstanding record of scholarly and professional achievement in social work.
- Experience in fundraising and extramural funding.
On‑site only; employees are primarily in the office or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on‑site.
