Technical Director (Production) – Part-Time (10-15 hrs/week) Role Summary
The Technical Director provides leadership, vision, and systems oversight for all weekend production at Grace Life Church. This role is not primarily about running equipment, but about building, training, and empowering a volunteer production team that delivers excellent, distraction-free worship environments.
The Technical Director oversees audio, Pro Presenter, video, and lighting
, ensuring systems are healthy, teams are trained, and production supports the spiritual direction of each service.
- Recruit, train, and develop volunteer leaders and team members across all production areas.
- Identify and raise up team leads for sound, slides, video, and lighting.
- Create clear expectations, training pathways, and onboarding processes for volunteers.
- Foster a culture of excellence, humility, and teamwork within the production ministry.
- Oversee all technical systems related to:
- Sound & audio mixing
- Pro Presenter & presentation systems
- Video & livestream (if applicable)
- Lighting systems
- Ensure systems are well-maintained, documented, and prepared for services.
- Proactively identify technical gaps and recommend solutions as the church grows.
- Develop simple SOPs (standard operating procedures) so production does not rely on one person.
- Ensure production teams are scheduled, prepared, and supported for each service.
- Collaborate with Worship & Media leadership to align production with service flow.
- Address technical issues that impact the worship experience and remove distractions.
- Be present as needed on Sundays, primarily to lead and support
, not to run every position.
- Work closely with Worship, Media, and Hospitality Teams for upcoming services and events.
- Communicate clearly with volunteers regarding schedules, expectations, and changes.
- Use Planning Center to schedule and organize teams effectively.
- 10-15 hours per week (part-time)
- Includes planning, volunteer development, communication, and Sunday oversight
- Hours may flex around service schedules and special events
- Experience leading or serving on a church production or live event team
- Strong understanding of audio, presentation software, and production workflows
- Proven ability to train and lead volunteers
- Organized, proactive, and spiritually mature
- Heart for the local church and a commitment to serving the mission of Grace Life Church
- Reports to the Worship & Media Pastor
- Works collaboratively with worship, creative, and hospitality teams
