Important Information About Roster PositionsThank you for considering a roster position with the City of Greensboro! These positions are an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to our community. Please review the details below to ensure you understand the nature of roster employment:
- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited
Hours:
Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period. - Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.
While roster positions do not include benefits, they are often a pathway to full-time, benefited employment with the City. Many of our current full-time employees started in roster positions, and we encourage you to explore this opportunity as a potential first step in your career with us.

Camp Joy is an inclusive day camp designed for individuals with and without disabilities. This position performs supervisory and skilled work managing a specialized recreation program or directing the activities in support of facility-based summer recreation programs. Supervision of other employees or volunteers is involved. This position completes duties as directed by the Camp Director, supervises volunteer groups/activities during summer camp, and will have to respond effectively and appropriately during emergency situations.
Current certification in First Aid/CPR/AED is required at all times of employment. Work is performed under the general supervision of higher-level employee.
- Assist Camp Coordinator with planning and scheduling camp activities
- Supervises the training, placement, and recognition of all volunteers
- Assisting with assigning campers and staff to appropriate cabins/vans
- Responsible for volunteer and camper attendance
- Assist with daily opening and closing duties
This job is Non-Exempt under FLSA policy.
Minimum Qualifications:- Valid Driver’s License
- 3+ years working with persons with disabilities
- 2+ years summer camp experience
- First Aid/ CPR/ AED certified
- Behavior Intervention Training
