Base pay range: $15.00/hr - $15.00/hr
Position OverviewResponsible for planning and organizing child programs, providing a high-quality environment that supports social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
Responsibilities- Organize and use space, materials, and routines to create an engaging, safe, and enjoyable environment that encourages play, exploration, and learning.
- Maintain center spaces that include dramatic play, science, art, manipulatives/fine motor skill materials, and a reading area.
- Develop and implement an integrated program of activities that supports each child's growth, using monthly selected books for lesson planning.
- Ensure the program respects and reflects children’s diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- Interact with children using effective communication that fosters physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
- Use questioning and problem‑solving techniques to promote learning.
- Provide opportunities for children to understand, acquire, and use verbal and non‑verbal communication.
- Assist children with self‑care activities and smooth transitions between activities.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with co‑workers and parents through open communication and support of professional development.
- Observe and assess each child using the Galileo Assessment; training will be provided.
- Communicate the activities of the program to parents on a regular basis through a monthly Learning Together bulletin board.
- Use all available resources to ensure effective classroom operation, submit accurate reports, and maintain an orderly classroom.
- Attend required meetings and complete additional professional development workshops.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Effective verbal communication with supervisors, children, parents, and volunteers.
- Ability to perform job duties, including clear written assignments and physical tasks accommodations as required by law.
- Proficiency in child development theories and appropriate practices.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staff development participation.
Job requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision, hearing, taste, smell, and moderate noise level typical.
