role

An opportunity has arisen within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy service to work as an Advanced Practice (MSK) Physiotherapist in Primary Care. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of this developing area of MSK Physiotherapy.

These first contact practitioners will be expected to meet the needs of a GP MSK caseload and provide specialist support to the Primary Care team in GP surgeries while maintaining safe and effective practice. They will also work within the MSK Physiotherapy service.

The role requires highly skilled and experienced MSK physiotherapists who hold a relevant Masters qualification or equivalent and will continue their learning and development to optimise the impact of these new roles. Post holders will require the ability to work flexibly and be responsive to change as the model evolves.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • Location based in Inverclyde HSCP
  • Part‑time position (27.75 hour per week)
  • Permanent Contract
  • Shift pattern for this post are 0830‑1630/30, Monday to Friday
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Key responsibilities
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including direct and indirect patient care.
  • Independently assess, evaluate, analyse and diagnose patients on an MSK Pathway with highly complex orthopaedic and musculoskeletal disorders and possible multiple pathologies using advanced clinical reasoning skills in a timely manner.
  • Provide expert advice and treatment to ensure patients are managed appropriately within MSK pathways.
  • Provide expert advice, instruction and teaching to patients, relatives, carers and other professionals to ensure patients are managed appropriately within the MSK pathways.
  • Provide or request expert and advanced clinical interventions e.g. blood, radiological or ultrasound requests or suggestions, other medical investigations.
  • Maintain timely and accurate patient document records to reflect care provided and meet professional standards.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job Essential

Qualifications and Attainments

  • Appropriate professional degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Appropriate professional registration.
  • Appropriate clinical experience within speciality.
  • MSc or evidence of work towards equivalent.
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate courses/ CPD e.g. MACP, Diploma in Injection Therapy, Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine, advanced pain management and clinical reasoning.
Experience and Special Aptitudes/ Skills/ Knowledge
  • Ability to problem‑solve, to be innovative or to deal with difficult or challenging situations.
  • Excellent working knowledge of out‑patient working.
  • Evidence of use of initiative and ability to manage a demanding workload, achieve organisational targets and performance objectives in sometimes challenging environments.
  • Excellent communication skills especially with multi‑agencies.
  • Evidence of excellence in clinical knowledge and skills.
