The Product Introduction Facilities (PIF) Pilot Line located in Greenlawn, NY is responsible for the early builds of new electronic and optomechanical hardware designs. This includes the development and maturation of the associated build processes, programming, tooling and documentation in preparation for full rate production.
This position is on first shift on a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off! The New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer will engage in close collaboration with the product design teams and the receiving production teams to ensure that the products are designed for manufacturability and the transition to production is successful. The PIF and the NPI Engineer are critical, unique and exciting roles that help BAE Systems support and satisfy our customer's needs.
The NPI Engineer develop solutions for product assembly, resolve product design/manufacturing challenges, and support new product introduction through the transition to production (TTP) process. Focusing on the Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) activities early in the design process, the NPI Engineer will help drive affordability, producibility and technology trends into our factories to maximize design flexibility, manufacturability, and lower overall product costs. Provides manufacturing engineering support for all activities in product development process.

Monitor status of all new products and ensure effective execution of projects according to required policies, procedures and government regulations.
Coordinates with production functional teams to develop and implement Manufacturing Plan for products. Creates manufacturing documentation for all products transitioned to production. Assists the Manufacturing team and supports communication across all functions. Supports integration of all products according to product lifecycle.
Evaluates designs and ensures adherence to all design and manufacture principles. Ensures compliance to all CO procedures and work instructions. Works with design engineering and assists in transition of design prototypes into cost efficient and high-volume products. Supports the development of prototype design according to required techniques and manufacturing processes.
Designs new manufacturing process requirements and associated guidelines. Develops and implements efficient material handling, flow strategies and always maintains safe and manufacturing processes. Analyzes and supports Root Cause & Corrective Actions (RCCA) in response to design failures. Core responsibilities include:

• Versed in DFM, DTUPC and Transition to Production (TTP) methods, tools, and best practices.

• Design knowledge of hardware products including participation in all internal design reviews and architecture review boards.

• Drives producible product architecture early in the product life cycle providing a "Left Shift" mentality to engage DFM, DFT and DTUPC compliance.

• Provides support in the areas of Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRAs) and Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs).

• Promotes the use of design guidelines during product development.

• Serves as conduit to Operations staffing to include supply chain, manufacturing engineering and planning.

• Supports the selection of preferred parts and suppliers in alignment with supply chain strategy.
