CSO Relief Counselor - Safe Haven Program

CSO is seeking Relief Counselors for our Safe Haven program in Pittsfield on a part-time basis (less than 20 hours).

Our Safe Haven in Greenfield is a 24/7 fully supported transitional housing program. This peer-led program is staffed with counselors and case managers.

The counselor will be responsible for the care and treatment of clients, as well as specific tasks necessary for the operation of this program component.

As a Safe Haven Counselor, you will:
  • Establish a 1:1 therapeutic relationship with each program client.
  • Provide support and ensure safety for clients utilizing the program.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including self-care, cooking, recreation, and medication management according to individual treatment plans.
  • Prepare daily evening meals for clients and staff during evening shifts, coordinating duties with other counselors.
  • Participate in treatment planning and clinical referrals as part of case management duties.
  • Monitor clients through hourly bed checks and documentation, providing closer observation as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing in-service training to maintain and develop counseling skills.
  • Administer medications and document appropriately.
  • Occasionally shop for food and supplies needed for daily operations.
  • Present cases to insurance companies and obtain prior approvals as assigned.
  • Provide client transportation as needed.
Your Background
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree (preferred).
  • High School Diploma with 2 years of relevant Human Services experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are strongly encouraged to apply.
