turners falls class i technician franklin transit management is looking for an experienced fleet technician to join its team! Technician?

• maintain a massachusetts commercial driver's license class b with passenger and air-brake endorsements, a dpu license, and dot medical card.
• report to the garage on time and pre-inspect tools and equipment prior to beginning work.
• perform maintenance of a fleet of gasoline and diesel vehicles that include buses, vans, and other support cars and trucks.
• maintenance activities include inspections, diagnoses, and repairs.
• perform maintenance activities of facility including snow removal, road tests, and equipment maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
• report to maintenance manager any unusual occurrences or incidents which occur during course of shift.
• complete appropriate paperwork and log appropriate information into computer programs and software.
• coordinate with dispatchers to meet demand for vehicles to provide transportation, including the availability of vehicles for limited service and equipment to be held for servicing.
• respond to emergencies after hours such as breakdowns and snow removal.
• perform duties and responsibilities of the utility worker position when necessary.
• perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the maintenance manager.

• education: a high school diploma or ged is required.
• experience: 5-10 years of vehicle maintenance experience is required.
• possession of a current cdl class b license with passenger and air brakes endorsements, as well as the ability to obtain a valid dot medical card and massachusetts dpu license.
• ase certifications strongly preferred.
• knowledge: this position requires knowledge of diagnostic tools and the ability to read and write, including reading blueprints and wiring schematics.
• must be able to use transit and maintenance related computer programs or learn how to use such programs.
• physical requirements: incumbent must have a high degree of energy, be physically capable of rapid relocation to an accident site, and meet physical, medical, and mobility requirements for operating a commercial vehicle. Must be able to lift and move heavy items and bend, squat, twist into confined spaces for inspections and repairs.
• must be capable of working evening and/or weekend hours as required.
• interpersonal skills: must have excellent communication skills for positive interactions with company personnel, public agency personnel, vendors, and the general public. Must respond to employee inquiries, concerns, suggestions, and complaints.
• work environment: primarily indoors with frequent exposure to outdoor weather, bus fumes, oils and grease, accident site and traffic hazards, and some hazardous materials. Must be comfortable working alone in an unpopulated area at night.
• supervision: must perform duties for periods of time unsupervised.
