Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC) is an 89-bed community hospital in Greenfield, MA. BFMC services include emergency, surgery, cancer, heart and vascular, obstetrics, and more.

Summary:

• Cross-trained to do all FSA/ Café/ Functions and Room Service Production Duties. Performs general services and support duties within the Patient Services area, including serving food, station set-up, break-down, and clean-up, food station prep and loading patient trays onto food trucks/delivering food trucks to the various patient floors, collecting trash and discard as needed, wash pots and pans. Also trained in Room Service Production area and in proper preparation methods.
  
  Reports to Supervisor.

Schedule
:

• 32 hours/week, 1st and 2nd shift rotation
• Every other weekend shift required
• Differential pay for weekends and holidays

Job Responsibilities
:

• Maintain a sanitary work environment and sanitize all work areas and equipment after use, following NRA guidelines and separation of raw/cooked foods. Maintain a clean workstation throughout the shift and ensure proper cleanliness of storage and service areas.
• Practice proper infection control, including hand hygiene, hair restraints, clean uniforms, and glove use when preparing ready-to-eat products. Follow safe knife handling and sanitation procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
• Set up and maintain work stations for serving customers/patients. Ensure adequate stock of food, dishes, and utensils and re-order as needed to minimize interruptions in service.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with peers, guests, and hospital staff to promote a courteous and service-oriented environment.
• Respond to departmental staffing needs and demonstrate flexibility to support department productivity and patient nutritional needs.
• Foster a customer-friendly atmosphere, communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff, and uphold a high standard of service.

Education

Preferred:
High School diploma or GED or equivalent

Skills and Competencies

• Proper food handling skills
• Ability to observe health and safety requirements
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Ability to read and use recipes
