Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position with night shifts and advanced certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery setting

• Unit includes 5 L&D beds, 10 postpartum beds, and no triage beds

• Serves laboring and postpartum patients, as well as pediatrics and Med Surg overflow

• Shifts are 12 hours, 7p-7a, with every third weekend required

• Uses MEDITECH EMR and GE EFM system

• Staff may titrate insulin, Magnesium, and Pitocin drips in laboring patients

• Team includes a charge nurse every shift, a PCT on nights, and inhouse NNP and CRNA coverage 24/7

• Staff may float to Med Surg units on a rotating basis

• Post C-section care occurs in PACU, with mother-baby care and fundal checks

• AWHONN staffing ratios are used

• Telemetry and bubble CPAP available on the unit

• Team support includes a charge nurse and in-house supervisor at all times

• Some self-scheduling is available, with shift leads coordinating schedules

• Holiday coverage is preferred for travelers

• Staff clothing must be navy blue or royal blue scrubs

• Unit orientation is provided during the first week

• RT attends all C-section deliveries and provides respiratory support as needed

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license required

• Minimum of 2 years recent Labor & Delivery experience

• Must have prior experience with both laboring and postpartum patients

• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS

• Previous permanent staff at specified health system within last 6 months will not be considered
