Position Summary

The Parker Internship Program focuses on the development of new talent by exposing interns to the dynamic and challenging field of accounting and finance in a manufacturing environment.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated accounting intern to support our finance/accounting team during the summer term. This internship offers hands-on exposure to core accounting processes, financial reporting, and day-to-day operations in a professional environment. The selected applicant will gain practical experience with real accounting workflows and month-end close, exposure to cross-functional work with operations and engineering, experience supporting capital project tracking, recurring status cadences, and documentation discipline, and have a tangible project portfolio.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist with month-end close tasks (journal entries, reconciliations, variance explanations)

* Prepare and organize supporting documentation for journal entries and accruals.

* Help maintain close checklists and ensure deadlines are met.

* Investigate reconciling items and follow up with internal stakeholders.

* Help compile and maintain daily/weekly/monthly reporting for specific functional areas.

* Assist with special projects such as process mapping, automation opportunities, and data cleanup.

* Ad hoc projects, i.e., ERP/MRP routing updates and cost impact and capital project management

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

* Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field

* Working knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas, and large datasets)

* Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

* Professional communication skills (able to follow up with cross-functional partners and summarize status/issues clearly)

* Ability to work onsite and meet deadlines in a time-bound project environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Familiarity with an ERP/MRP system (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Epicor) and comfortable working with structured master data (items, routings, work centers)

* Interest in cost accounting/manufacturing concepts (standard cost, labor/machine time, overhead absorption)

* Experience building trackers and status reports.

* Exposure to tools such as Excel Power Query, basic BI tools, SQL/Python coding language, and dashboarding

* Data accuracy and documentation discipline (audit trail mindset)

* Organization and progress tracking (checklists, area ownership, exception management)

* Analytical thinking (identify variances, follow up on discrepancies)

* Teamwork and customer-service approach with internal stakeholders

* Integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to internal controls
