Warehouse Specialist - Temporary Assignment - Laurel Warehouse

Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives material for storage and disposal processing.
- Inventory and manifest materials in accordance with guidelines for disposition by the GSFC Property Disposal Officer.
- Sort, stack, package and generally organize and segregate materials as directed.
- Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and automatic retrieval systems in a safe manner according to NASA regulations and company standards.
- Package and label material for storage, transfer or shipment elsewhere.
- Load materials for disposal into dumpsters, when approved to do so.
- Load materials into trucks for shipment.
- Practices safety techniques at all times and reports unsafe practices and conditions to immediate supervisor or the Company Safety Office.
- Performs housekeeping duties, as required, to maintain a safe working environment using housekeeping tools provided by the supervisor.
- Secures the warehouse area to protect Government property from theft.
- Verifies location records to ensure material is in proper location.
- Work closely with Equipment and Disposal Managers to properly account for and document all material transactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of two years warehousing experience.
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is a top priority.
- Must share a commitment to maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment while simultaneously optimizing individual performance and contribution.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment
- Ability to pass a NASA GSFC forklift physical
- Capable of lifting packages weighing up to 70 pounds
- Ability to stoop, bend, push and pull
- Must possess basic computer literacy skills
- The work of this position is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment

Terms of Employment and Eligibility Requirements- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions
- Must be able to successfully complete a background screening
- Must possess or be able to obtain a public trust clearance prior to employment and maintain public trust clearance for the duration of employment

Rateof Pay/Benefits
Internal Hire Hourly Rate: $34.51
External Hire Hourly Rate: $25.89
* CBA states new hires hourly rate will be calculated at 75% for the 12 months of employment.
