Overview
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation’s Management Services Division is seeking an Athletic & Park Permitting Administrator (Class Spec – Department Program Administrator). The role oversees permitting and scheduling of athletic fields, gymnasiums, picnic shelters, park buildings, and other community facilities, ensuring equitable access, proper usage, and alignment with Park Rules, property agreements, leases, and Memoranda of Understanding (MOU).
Responsibilities- Oversee the permitting and scheduling of all community facilities and ensure compliance with Park Rules and related agreements.
- Administer use, repairs, renovation work, capital improvement projects, and demolition of park houses.
- Supervise staff, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and manage usage conflicts.
- Ensure compliance with safety and facility use standards and that all agreements comply with legal requirements and strategic goals.
- A. Expert knowledge of park and recreation management, permitting, public administration, budgeting, acquisition policies, safety and health regulations, program and project management, marketing, revenue generation, craft and trade practices, and commission organization policies.
- B. Knowledge of planning, assigning, reviewing work, budgeting, resource management, supervising employees at the second and third level of supervision, HR management, and EEO principles.
- C. Skill and ability to serve as a subject matter expert, coordinate multiple sites and staff, develop goals and objectives, gather complex research data, oversee technical reports and marketing materials, and maintain grounds, buildings, nature centers, and facilities.
- D. Problem solving skill to select, organize, and logically process relevant information to solve problems, negotiate proposals, forecast, and monitor budgets.
- E. Communication skill to understand information, form hypotheses, develop logical arguments, listen actively, and communicate effectively to obtain agreement, compliance, or other desired results.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Communications, Business Administration, Public Administration, Management Science, or a related field.
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in duties and responsibilities in this class specification.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, total 10 years.
