** K is seeking to fill a position as a mechanical engineer that will take on mechanical and electromechanical design tasks to assist in the development and testing of a TVAC (thermal vacuum) chamber and future lab and instrument development.

* Work location:
** Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt, MD
** Job type:
** Onsite, full time
** The Engineer will be responsible for:
*** Design mechanical and electromechanical systems in support of the development of an automated TVAC chamber.
* Collaborate with software and EGSE developer to ensure proper TVAC system performance.
* Create and maintain instrument assembly and design documentation such as assembly procedures, WOA’s, torque trackers, etc.
* Provide general MGSE design support for the SPIF lab.
* Provide hands-on aerospace instrument assembly support as needed.
* Provide aerospace instrument testing support as needed.
* Interface with project specific mechanical teams to provide instrument and MGSE design support.
** Required Experience, Skills and
Certifications:
*** Experience in aerospace-related mechanical design.
* Experience in designing electromechanical systems.
* Experience using PTC Creo for mechanical design work.
* Experience in designing motion control systems and/or robotics.
* Basic experience in developing Python and MATLAB scripts.
* Basic knowledge of thermal transfer and thermal control systems.
* Experience in working in clean rooms.
* Experience in working with ESD sensitive hardware.
* Knowledge of computer systems.
* Teamwork skills.
* Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
*** SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
*** On-Site work performed at GSPC Greenbelt, MD location.
** Basic Compensation:**$94,000.00 - $The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
