Peraton is seeking a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer/Architect to support our NASA customer for the Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) Program. This position will allow for 100% telework, with travel to the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and other NASA locations, as needed. As prime contractor on the SENSE contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks.
You will work in a dynamic, team‑based development environment for the NASA Direct to Earth (DTE) network. Join the SENSE team to support NASA programs that integrate with state‑of‑the‑art RF satellite ground communications systems and technologies. In this position, you will become part of NASA's return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that builds and ensures NASA space‑ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.
- Develop effective cybersecurity architectures, frameworks, and strategies that align with organizational needs, adhere to industry best practices, and encompass systems with multiple categorization levels of data.
- Create and execute comprehensive security documentation, assess the impact of new system implementations/interfaces on security posture, and ensure alignment with cybersecurity guidelines.
- Keep abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends, proactively recommending and implementing security enhancements as required.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Strategize, execute and monitor cybersecurity projects, including developing project plans, facilitating communication, and addressing issues and risks.
- Conduct project assessments and organize lessons learned sessions to identify areas for improvement and optimize future project deliveries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align cybersecurity projects with organizational objectives and ensure compliance.
- Provide expert guidance to both internal and external partners on matters relating to cybersecurity architecture, policies, and procedures.
- Offer mentorship, guidance, and technical expertise to junior team members, nurturing their professional growth and development.
- Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing, teamwork, and innovation.
- Lead by example, exemplifying a strong work ethic, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in all cybersecurity projects.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related technical engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant technical cybersecurity experience; a master's and 8+ years; or an associate's and 12+ years; without a degree, 14+ years of related technical experience and technical training may be considered.
- A minimum of 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity architecture and project management.
- Experience with evaluation of IT systems for compliance with mandated cybersecurity baselines/requirements, and execution of remediation to achieve that compliance.
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS.
- Knowledge of network security, encryption, and access control technologies.
- Experience with risk assessment and management.
- Project management skills, including the ability to lead and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Possess at least one relevant cybersecurity certification, such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
- An understanding of emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance, which requires a U.S. citizen.
