Event Staff/ Venue Crew, Event Manager / Planner, Customer Service Rep
The Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, is seeking Special Event Staff to support recreation programs and community events throughout the year. This on-call position provides operational and customer service support for events, including set-up and break-down, guest assistance, parking support, and event operations. Events may take place indoors or outdoors and often occur during evenings and weekends, especially during peak seasons such as the summer months.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with the public, are dependable, and can work in fast-paced environments. A valid driver’s license is required, as staff may be asked to assist with transporting equipment or operating departmental vehicles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with event set-up and break-down, including chairs, tables, equipment, and supplies
- Provide customer service and greet guests at events
- Support event operations by assisting event managers with assigned tasks
- Assist with seating organization and crowd flow in accordance with safety and fire code regulations
- Support event marketing and promotional activities as assigned
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of event venues before, during, and after events
- Assist with inventory check-in/check-out and inspect equipment for damage
- Support parking operations, including directing traffic and assisting patrons
- Assist with event packing and equipment storage following events
- Perform other related duties as required based on event needs
Required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Customer service experience required
- Valid driver’s license required
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- List preferred/required KSA
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
Work hours
- On-call position with hours based on event schedules
- Requires availability during evenings and weekends, including Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
- Additional hours may be required during peak event seasons, including summer months
Working Conditions/Environment
- Moderate physical activity required
- Position requires standing and/or walking for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Work may involve indoor and outdoor events and exposure to varying weather conditions
