The Prince George’s County Planning Department of The Maryland‑National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant III to support the Community Planning Division. The division manages the County’s comprehensive planning process serving subareas of the County. Staff prepares plans and studies used to guide future growth and community development in these areas. The Administrative Assistant III provides front office coverage and building management;
serves as the key point of contact for internal and external customers; supports assigned planning projects and studies working directly with project managers and as a core member of the project team; and assists with all other administrative and clerical responsibilities.
The successful candidate must be self‑motivated and organized and have exceptional communication and time management skills; demonstrate an ability to solve problems independently, manage a diverse work program, and support a diverse staff; and use innovation and technology to support the work program of the division.

Responsibilities- Under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant III ensures adequate front office coverage and provides administrative and clerical support to the division chief and section supervisors including managing the chief’s calendar and scheduling meetings, supporting recruitments, preparing correspondence on their behalf, and assisting in the development and implementation of division operating procedures.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to project managers and teams and serves as a member of the core project team including: attending project team meetings; developing and maintaining mailing lists and processing mailings; staffing community meetings as needed; processing project consultant payment requests; securing meeting facilities for community meetings according to established procedures; and working with project managers to review and edit, package and submit materials for Planning Board and County Council actions and support the required follow up actions.
- Supports management of the division’s communications systems, including processing incoming and outgoing mail and ensuring timely routing of materials; coordinating and utilizing email and other e‑communication mechanisms to transmit information to staff in the division in a timely manner; maintaining bulletin boards and division tickler files for timely responses to formal communications.
- Maintains and reconciles financial reports and records to track expenditures and account balances; prepares accounting data for processing; provides administrative support in the budget preparation process; processes payroll and time reporting information; and requests and distributes petty cash according to department procedures.

- Principles of record keeping and records management.
