Overview
Position Summary The Pantry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing food pantry and warehouse operations for the Community Food Bank’s (CFB’s) Green Valley and Amado locations. This role operates independently to manage inventory and donations and ensure safe, compliant food distribution across two buildings. This position supervises assigned pantry staff and provides day-to-day leadership for staff and volunteers at both locations. The Pantry Supervisor reports to the Associate Director of Resource Centers and works in coordination with Food Security and CFB Warehouses on inventory planning, transfers, and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Manage food inventory to support distribution needs across Green Valley and Amado.
- Track inventory and usage data and prepare required grant and operational reports.
- Maintain accurate inventory logs and communicate inventory needs to operations staff.
- Coordinate pantry and warehouse readiness and consistency across two locations.
- Receive, record, and manage food and cash donations in accordance with CFB policies and internal controls.
- Serve as a steward of donated resources, ensuring ethical handling, security, and accurate documentation.
- Apply FIFO and FEFO practices to maintain food quality and safety.
- Coordinate in-person distributions and home delivery preparation in partnership with the Client and Volunteer Services Supervisor.
- Ensure food is stored, handled, and monitored safely, including time/temperature control and pest prevention.
- Supervise assigned pantry staff, including onboarding, training, daily direction, and performance feedback in alignment with CFB policies.
- Direct daily on-site work performed by staff and volunteers assigned.
- Coordinate delivery partners and organize packing for home deliveries.
- Implement pantry safety and food safety procedures.
- Use inventory, warehouse, and tracking systems to support operations.
- Provide cross-training and operational backup across both locations.
- Complete routine compliance audits and inventory cycle counts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and corrective follow-up.
- Support compliance with AIB, USDA, OSHA, Feeding America, and local/state regulations through accurate documentation and adherence to standards.
- Exercise independent judgment in daily operations and immediately escalate safety and compliance issues to leadership.
- Represent CFB professionally to neighbors, donors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Communicate professionally and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in a food pantry, including inventory management, distribution, and volunteer coordination.
- One (1) year of experience supervising or leading staff and/or volunteers (may be included within the two years of pantry experience).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, and aptitude to learn other software platforms.
- For company insurance purposes, at least 21 years of age; possess a current Arizona Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
Preferred
- Associate’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration or a related field.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Knowledge of food pantry, warehouse, and inventory operations.
- Ability to manage operations across multiple locations with minimal supervision.
- Strong judgment, integrity, and accountability when handling donated food and funds.
- Ability to organize, track, and safely store food inventory.
- Working knowledge of food safety standards, including AIB compliance.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations related to food storage and distribution.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment and inventory systems.
- Ability to supervise staff, provide coaching and feedback, and support performance expectations in alignment with CFB policies.
- Ability to direct daily work activities and collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers.
- Ability to communicate clearly with diverse populations.
- Ability to adapt to changing operational needs.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required.
