Overview
Under general direction, coordinate and monitor specified recreational activities and/or facility areas. This is a part-time, non-benefited position that typically works evenings and weekends from 20-28 hours per week.
Responsibilities- The Shift Leader reports to the Aquatics Coordinator or Recreation Facility Coordinator.
- This position exercises limited functional supervision over other part-time staff.
- Coordinate and monitor general operations of the Recreation Center or pool/wet room areas.
- Assist staff in accomplishing tasks as needed.
- Other related job duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of:
Operations, services, and activities of the Recreation Center. - Knowledge of:
Standard office procedures, methods, and computer equipment. - Knowledge of:
Principles and practices used in dealing with the public.
- Operate modern office equipment including computer equipment and software.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform assigned tasks properly and efficiently.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Communicate with citizens daily, in responding to questions or complaints, and enforcing rules.
- Communicate on a daily basis through an intercom or microphone system.
- Distinguish varying levels of cleanliness and take necessary measures to ensure a clean environment (i.e., mopping, sweeping, hosing down, shoveling, window cleaning, vacuuming, polishing tables, etc.).
- Education, Experience & Training: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Consideration will be given to those currently enrolled in a high school (or equivalent) educational program.
- Any combination of training and experience that would provide necessary public contact skills.
- Must be 15 years of age or older.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid certifications.
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, twist, and grasp; work with hands above shoulder height with up to 40 lbs.; work with arms extended at shoulder height with up to 20 lbs.; lift or carry 50 lbs. or less and push and/or pull heavy weights (over 75 lb. weights) on a regular basis.
