Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced personnel with P-3 aircraft structures mechanic background to support back shop maintenance program with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Jacksonville, FL. The CBP P-3 fleet consists of Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and Long‑Range Tracker (LRT) high‑endurance, all‑weather, tactical turbo‑prop aircraft. The AEW aircraft are utilized primarily for long‑range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries.

The LRT aircraft are used to intercept, track airborne and surface threats in source and transit zone countries. The P‑3 aircraft are equipped with state‑of‑the‑art, highly sophisticated sensor equipment, i.e., radar, electro‑optical and infrared (EO/IR) detecting systems.

Shift Requirements

This position will require you to work different shifts as required by the program needs:
Days, Nights or Weekends.

Your Duties Will Include
  • Performs a variety of Depot Level operations to assemble and repair major aircraft structures such as primary flight controls, secondary flight controls, fuselage panels, longerons, stringers, formers, and structural subassemblies that include engine cowl panels and shrouds.
  • Aligns parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
  • Performs such part‑fitting operations as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.
  • Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
  • May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure.
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures at the Depot level.
  • Break down and build‑up of main and nose tire and wheel assemblies.
  • Assemble aircraft structures and associated components with the aid of jigs and fixtures by drilling, filing, filling, honing, reaming, counter‑sinking, dimpling, burring and fastening.
  • Perform close tolerance assembly operations such as: shimming, fitting, trimming, and aligning where variances may occur considerably from one assembly to another as with fairings and the mating of major structural assemblies.
  • Effectively communicate, vocally, by handwriting and email with other employees, members of supervision, and others, as required in their duties.
  • Document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, parts requests, etc.
