Seasonal Maintenance - Public Works

Overview

A summer job that could lead to a future career! The Department of Public Works is hiring 2026 Seasonal Maintenance employees to perform labor and maintenance work for its various divisions. Gain hands-on experience keeping our city running — while building skills that could lead to a full-time career with the City of Green Bay. Employment may occur anytime after May 15.

Individuals MUST be at least 18 years of age to apply for these positions.

Seasonal Maintenance employees will be assigned to one of the following areas:

• Signs and Marking
  • Hours:
    
    Monday – Thursday; 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. OR Tuesday - Friday 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (40 hrs/week).
  • Loads and unloads materials associated with signing, marking, & barricading.
  • Performs barricading duties and various work as assigned.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Continuous lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Based out of East Side Municipal Garage: 1820 Mills Street.
• Sanitation
  • Hours:
    
    Monday – Friday; 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (40 hrs/week).
  • Performs work related to brush collection.
  • Garbage pick-up 1 day/week.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Continuous lifting up to 50 pounds.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience performing manual labor preferred.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• May be required to demonstrate minimum competency by successfully passing approved tests.
