- Move trailers on the premises using a yard jockey or tractor, start trailer refrigeration units, and prepare trailers for deliveries. This position also covers local deliveries when necessary.
- Set trailers in dock doors for loading product, start refrigeration units and check them periodically.
- Pull loaded trailers away from the dock and secure trailer doors.
- Coordinate loading schedules with warehouse supervisors.
- Occasionally make local deliveries and shuttle trailers between UNFI local buildings.
- Operate powered industrial equipment such as electric pallet jacks when necessary.
- Perform other duties as necessary and required.
- Valid medical card as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration and a valid state specific Commercial Driver’s License, Class
A. - Ability to pass a written exam and road test.
- Minimum of one year verified experience operating a tractor‑trailer.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Ability to speak, read and write English well.
- Safe driving skills, ability to drive large tractor trailers and use related delivery equipment.
- Ability to pass a post‑offer employment physical and drug test and subsequent enrollment in a random pool of drivers for drug and alcohol testing as required by law.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate with co‑workers and supervisors.
- Willingness to work mornings, evenings.
Starting pay is $30.40 per hour.
