The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store and the general operations and supervision of the store as Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the store, supervise associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and keep work areas clean. They also execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment and immediately corrects or reports unsafe conditions.
- Secures building entrance/exit control, EAS devices, cash office, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
- Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
- Manages customer safety including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treats all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognizes associates using company recognition programs.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance, in accordance with the Company Dress Code; ensures all associates adhere to the Dress Code.
- Keeps all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per best practice.
- Receives merchandise trucks when needed.
- Processes all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Receives non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, special deliveries).
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
- Helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor after processing.
- Secures back‑stock and processes to company policy.
- Makes merchandising of department, including back‑stock, compliant.
- Reduces loss due to damage.
- Ensures compliance to monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.
- Handles floor moves and sign‑ups, including promotional signing as needed.
- Oversees re‑wraps as needed.
- Understands and complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintains a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Maintains the Public View Monitor system properly.
- Conducts "Code 50" package inspections.
- Executes company best practices while minimizing steps and touches.
- Maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches; ensures associates execute company standards at the front end.
- Maintains pace and presence at the front end, managing lines to expedite customers’ wait time.
- Trains and coaches associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front‑end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards.
