General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store and the general operations and supervision of the store as Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the store, supervise associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and keep work areas clean. They also execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.

Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment and immediately corrects or reports unsafe conditions.
  • Secures building entrance/exit control, EAS devices, cash office, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Manages customer safety including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treats all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognizes associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintains a professional appearance, in accordance with the Company Dress Code; ensures all associates adhere to the Dress Code.
  • Keeps all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per best practice.
  • Receives merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Processes all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
  • Receives non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, special deliveries).
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor after processing.
  • Secures back‑stock and processes to company policy.
  • Makes merchandising of department, including back‑stock, compliant.
  • Reduces loss due to damage.
  • Ensures compliance to monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.
  • Handles floor moves and sign‑ups, including promotional signing as needed.
  • Oversees re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Understands and complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintains a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Maintains the Public View Monitor system properly.
  • Conducts "Code 50" package inspections.
  • Executes company best practices while minimizing steps and touches.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches; ensures associates execute company standards at the front end.
  • Maintains pace and presence at the front end, managing lines to expedite customers’ wait time.
  • Trains and coaches associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front‑end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards.
