Camp Tekakwitha Assistant Cook

When the Head Cook is absent, the Assistant Cook runs the camp kitchen, ensuring compliance with Wisconsin Board of Health and American Camp Association sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards. The role includes appropriate use of supplies, food products and equipment to reduce waste, maintain cleanliness, and uphold safety and efficiency.

• Applicant must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Support and understand the mission, vision, and values of the Diocese of Green Bay and Camp Tekakwitha.
• Must have a high school diploma in addition to a degree in Food Management and/or a state certification in food service.
• Applicant must have a background in kitchen operations, including at least 1 year of previous commercial kitchen experience.
• Possess prior certification or is willing to acquire a certified Food Handler license through Serv Safe.
• Knowledge of planning and preparing nutritionally sound and well‑presented meals on a budget.
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of commercial equipment and appliances.
• Strong relational ability to serve as a member of a team, work independently, lead summer kitchen staff, and work one‑on‑one with individuals.
• Skilled at respectfully and patiently giving direction to kitchen staff in a supervisory role.
• Competency in aligning to mission/vision, state standards, and ACA regulations.
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Word, Excel, and Microsoft programs.
• Proficient human relational and supervisory skills to work well with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Collaborative decision‑making skills and conflict management.
• Employees are expected to attend retreats, seminars, and small group discussions where faith is discussed.
• Must be well organized and able to work independently and as a team in a fast‑paced setting.
• Methodical, logical, patient, careful, detail‑oriented, and accurate.
• Adaptable and flexible to new situations, working well under pressure.
• Able to remain upbeat and positive.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
• Able to verbally communicate needs and tasks effectively, professionally, and within an appropriate timeframe.
• Maintain good time and project management, meeting deadlines.
• Possess great interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be able to lift and move 25 to 50 lbs.
