Job SummaryThe Patient Service Representative (PSR) Surgery Scheduler role at Prevea Health is responsible for welcoming, registering, and scheduling patients and/or visitors in a friendly and positive manner. This position acts as a liaison between patients and medical staff. The PSR Surgery Scheduler is responsible for creating a positive first impression for anyone who uses Prevea Health services, whether over the phone, in person, or through MyPrevea.
Responsibilities- Schedules outpatient surgeries and procedures upon receipt of provider orders or referrals.
- Coordinate communication between patients, family members, staff, and providers via phone, in person, or through MyPrevea.
- Direct patient concerns, inquiries, or complaints by receiving and routing messages to appropriate staff.
- Obtain and confirm accurate demographic and insurance/coverage information.
- Assist patient or caller with questions regarding policies, insurances, payments, or other financial needs.
- Works closely with the prior authorization team to review insurance and surgery eligibility; follow protocols for surgery reschedules if necessary.
- Collaborate closely with the clinical operations team to provide feedback regarding scheduling efficiencies and opportunities.
- Appropriately handle cash and collect required payments, including co-payments, outstanding balances and payments due prior to services being rendered in accordance with Prevea policies and procedures.
- Provide error‑free and accurate daily batch and/or deposits for appropriate staff for processing.
- High School Diploma and/or GED.
- 3-5 years of experience in customer service, insurance, and/or healthcare (preferred).
- Proficient telephone and computer skills with clear and professional speaking abilities.
- Display exceptional customer service by assessing patient needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating satisfaction.
- Capable of being empathetic and responsive to patient needs by actively listening, asking appropriate questions, and continually looking for solutions.
