Scanning Specialist

Job Summary

At Prevea Health the Scanning Specialist plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of Prevea's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. This position is responsible for reviewing and accurately scanning incoming documents from clinic locations, ensuring they are properly linked within Epic Care to the appropriate patient record, encounter, or order. The Scanning Specialist supports the delivery of high‑quality patient care by ensuring providers and staff have timely access to critical patient information.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain scanning equipment to capture high‑quality digital images.
  • Review documents for clarity and legibility before scanning.
  • Index and categorize scanned documents for easy retrieval.
  • Verify accuracy of scanned documents, ensuring that they match the original hard copy.
  • Perform quality checks on scanned images, re‑scanning if necessary.
  • Resolve problems related to document scanning, including troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Adhere to the company's document management procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain a record of scanned documents.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all documents.
Requirements
  • Education:

    High School Diploma and/or GED.
  • Required Experience:

    1‑3 years of experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Preferred

    Skills and Abilities:

    Willingness to learn new roles within scope of practice; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships; organizational skills that allow timely patient appointments and appropriate follow‑up; courteous and service‑oriented image through positive interaction with patients and families, physicians and co‑workers; community participation; understanding of medical terminology; exceptional customer retention skills; proficiency in PC skills; critical thinking and problem‑solving skills; ability to navigate the Epic System as needed.
