Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the evaluation and preliminary electrical design process for new client opportunities, increasing organizational capacity to capture MEP electrical work.
- Independently assess existing building electrical systems and develop practical, code-compliant design solutions for commercial and industrial environments.
- Develop accurate project scopes, cost estimates, and pricing recommendations to support timely and informed client decision-making.
- Drive measurable growth in electrical design/build revenue by increasing both the volume and quality of successfully captured projects.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure seamless transition from design through execution.
- Establish and refine efficient handoff processes to project management and production teams to ensure smooth project starts.
- Build credibility and trust with internal stakeholders through practical, executable designs aligned with field realities.
- Serve as a go-to technical resource for complex electrical design challenges across multiple concurrent projects.
- Refine and standardize electrical design and estimating practices to improve consistency, margins, and execution efficiency.
- Maintain strong client relationships, effectively communicate with diverse audiences, and support a managed book of business to sustain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Seven or more years of hands-on experience designing commercial and industrial electrical systems within an MEP environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate existing building electrical systems and develop practical, code-compliant design solutions.
- Strong estimating capability with proven experience developing accurate project scopes, cost estimates, and pricing recommendations.
- Deep working knowledge of electrical codes, ordinances, and industry standards, including NEC and ASHRAE, as applied in real-world projects.
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with project managers and field teams to ensure successful execution.
- Ability to build trust quickly with stakeholders and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Licensed Master Electrician or equivalent trade-based background with strong design acumen preferred.
- Licensed Electrical Designer, Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or actively pursuing PE licensure preferred.
- Experience supporting design/build electrical projects tied to existing client relationships preferred.
