Job Summary
Are you looking for a career that allows you work minimal hours during the summer and still get paid a full-time salary? The Project SEARCH Instructor is responsible for providing transitional and education programming for interns enrolled in the program. The Project SEARCH Instructor will assist in identifying the intern’s strengths, interests, and abilities related to skill acquisition, job development, and job placement.
Job Duties- Work with the area school districts to promote the program and recruit potential interns/candidates.
- Attend IEP meetings for interns.
- Facilitate regular Employment Planning Meetings with interns, families, and agency personnel to determine career interests, specific job preferences, skills, and abilities to design an individualized approach to job development.
- Identify and problem solve solutions for challenges that interfere with completion of Project SEARCH and gaining and maintaining employment.
- Use Voc Fit and other assessment tools to evaluate intern progress, communicate with the team, and identify additional skill/task development.
- Facilitate Project SEARCH Steering Committee meetings.
- Collaborates with business liaisons, department managers and Project SEARCH team to develop internship sites within Emplify Health and HSHS St. Vincent Hospital to build skills for the interns, preparing them for successful community integrated employment.
- Follow Emplify Healy and HSHS St. Vincent Hospital’s policies and procedures.
- Teaches training room curriculum and activities based off the Project SEARCH model and provides skills training to the interns in their departments.
- Provide education and training to host site employees regarding supporting people with disabilities in the workplace as necessary.
- Participate in assigned meetings, professional development, and training as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license in Special Education
- A minimum of two years of successful, recent and relevant experience as a classroom instructor for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the secondary level.
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license is required
- Microsoft Office computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
